Writing in Social Science and Humanties

As a student in the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities, you will be studying social issues, social policy, justice cases, psychology, and contemporary thinking in criminology and other related fields. As these areas are constantly evolving and challenging each other, you will be using critical analysis to examine, review, and explore a wide range of topics.

There are a variety of assignment types that your instructors will use, including research essays, presentations, group assignments, and on-line discussion forums. You may also take some courses (as electives) outside of the faculty. Always make sure you understand the assignment requirements for each course – there can be wide variation between instructors and between the different faculties.

In most social science and humanities courses, you will use APA formatting for references and citations. If you are not clear on the formatting style required, ask your instructor.
